The Story
From the Desert Cotton collection, mn's first study of UAE flora.

This pattern began as a study by hand. Desert cotton (الآرا) was sketched and painted closely, sometimes with its own leaves used as the brush, until the drawings became a reading of the plant rather than a copy. Those marks were set into a repeat, made into a negative, and laid over treated paper in the sun. Over a day of exposure, the light fixed the pattern into the paper. That print was then carried onto fabric.
